How To Live Stream Your Art

In this day and age, there’s no better way to market art than social media channels. While posting images and reels of your work is great for promotion, live streaming offers a more intimate and engaging space to showcase your creations. It can also help you to create a steady income while showcasing something that you’re passionate about from the comfort of your own home!

We will discuss how to live stream your art most effectively using the “5 Ws” guideline: Who, What, When, Where, and Why.

So, take a break from scheduling your appointment with ThriveMD, and let’s get right into it.

Live Stream: Preparation

Live stream preparation requires you to have a clear purpose, find an appropriate platform, and inform your audience before going live. The first step in preparing for your live stream is to establish your “what” and “why”.

Questions to consider during the “what” and “why” phase:

1. What can my live stream offer that my social media posts can’t?

2. Why does my art add value to my audience?

3. Ask your audience! What are they interested in seeing?

Next, it’s time to figure out “where” to host your stream. It’s projected that by 2024, livestream e-commerce will generate an astounding 35 billion dollars with the most popular platform being YouTube in 2022. Instagram, Facebook, and Twitch are other viable, popular options.

Once you’ve got your platform pinned down, it’s time to let your followers know the “when” of your stream. You can do this by sharing short videos highlighting what your stream will offer, sending out social media invites, and creating posts specifically marketing the stream.

Live Stream: In Front of the Camera

Now time for lights, camera, and action! You want to ensure your streaming conditions are prime. Before you go live, practice a few trial runs to confirm your equipment and setup is optimized for viewing pleasure.

For the “who” phase of your live stream, consider some Q&As from the audience, provide feedback on comments, and be yourself! (Keep in mind: this is a live stream and not a pre-recording for a reason.)

A Facebook study revealed that live videos can generate a 600% interaction increase when compared to traditional posts, showing consumers enjoy interacting in real time with content creators.

TLDR; Remember the 5 W’s

· Who: Who are you/who is your audience?

· What: What is the purpose of your livestream?

· Where: Where are you going to host your stream?

· When: When is the appropriate time to stream? – Let your audience know!

· Why: Why will your audience want to watch?

If you’re looking to make an income from selling your art, livestreaming is one of the most effective ways to reach a large audience. Remember the 5 W’s, and you’ll be bringing in new clients in no time at all!
